Yazmin Dababneh is currently working on creating a space to house and respond to her sculptures and installations— a place she calls “YayaLand.” This experiential project aims to be an immersive oasis that exists within unexpected architectural elements and an adventurous landscape. YayaLand will be a unique overnight escapade, fusing together a luxurious B&B stay with a wholly immersive and interactive art experience. This strange and contemporary space will envelope its guests through abnormal architectural components that extend to the outside landscape through otherworldly portals and tunnels. By merging ambitious installations and sculptures with peculiar architectural design aspects, YayaLand examines the relationship between art, design and experience through craft and technology explorations.
YayaLand 1.0, in its current state, is the definition of a fixer upper. This overgrown 7-acre property— that contains two buildings totaling about 7,000 square feet— was once home to a marijuana grow house, and a car shop before that. Since November 2022, it has been under construction in order to fulfill its potential of becoming the first version of YayaLand— think Salvador Dali’s Dreams meets Disney World with a somewhat minimal twist. Imagine an exclusive, overnight stay at a contemporary museum full of curious sculptures and mesmerizing installations that activate unusual architectural features and the surrounding landscape. This ambitious project is slowly becoming a reality one installation at a time. Once completed, YayaLand will grow into an international attraction with multiple locations all over the globe, generate unique job opportunities, as well as harbor a space for creative collaborations.
